Wooden Baby Buddha
The depiction of the Buddha as a baby is called the "Buddha-to-be" or the "future Buddha." It symbolizes the potential for enlightenment within all beings. The image of the baby Buddha sitting on a lotus throne is meant to evoke feelings of peace, compassion, and love, as well as the idea that these qualities can be cultivated within each person. The gesture of the right hand pointing towards the sky and the left hand towards the earth represents the Buddha's understanding of the interdependence of all things and his ultimate wisdom. In Buddhist art and culture, the baby Buddha is often depicted as a reminder of the innate goodness that exists within us all, and the possibility for all beings to attain enlightenment and liberation.
